New Service: Gilding process demonstration by Brigitte, a gilder by trade and tutor. This interesting demonstration is for groups 6- 30 people and takes about 30 minutes. Brigitte explains and demonstrates the entire gilding process on a picture- frames with genuine gold- leaf.

Kaikoura - where the mountains meet the sea. Eco friendly Kaikoura is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty. The most beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the colours of the sea, the hinterland with the deep green of the bush and grass and the often snow-capped mountains is legendary and memorable. Many walkways, but especially the Peninsula walk, allow you to experience some of the best scenery this country has to offer. A place not to be missed is the lookout, just a 5 minutes walk from our place. The Pacific Ocean attracts many sea mammals to live here, because of the 2000m deep canyon and a rich marine life. Tourists have great opportunities to see whales in their natural environment and swim with the playful Dusky Dolphins and seals. Of course there are many more attraction and activities in and around the town. Kaikoura also offers some outstanding arts and crafts galleries, excellent Gourmet restaurants with local wines and seafood. There are also many knowledgeable, land-based tour operators. Kaikoura a wonderful place, full of heart, soul and spirit. A place to relax for a few days and recharge the batteries!

Kaikoura ist da, wo sich die Berge mit dem Pazifik treffen. Die Naturschoenheiten im umweltfreundlichen Kaikoura laden so richtig zum Bleiben und Staunen ein. Vor allem bekannt sind die wunderschoenen Sonnenunter- und -aufgaenge, die Farben des Meeres, das Hinterland mit dem satt-gruenen Busch- und Grasland sowie die oft schneebedeckten Berge. Sie sind und bleiben, unter vielen anderen hier in Neuseeland, tolle Erinnerungen. Auf dem Spaziergang entlang der Landzunge begegnet man den Seehunden. Er ist gerade deshalb, neben vielen anderen hier in Kaikoura, einer der schoensten in Neuseeland. Sehenwert ist natuerlich auch der Aussichtspunkt, oberhalb des Staedtchen, gut 5 Minuten von uns weg. Durch den 2000 m tiefen Meeresgraben etwas suedlich von Kaikoura werden viele Klein-Meerestiere angelockt und damit auch Wale, Delfine und Seehunde etc. Diese sieht man oft auch vom Ufer aus. Pottwale können mit dem Schiff oder auch Flugzeug beobachtet werden. Mit den verspielten "Dusky- Dolphins" und den Seehunden schwimmt man im offenen Meer. Natuerlich gibt es noch viele andere Touristen-Angebote in und ausserhalb der Stadt. Einige Galerien bieten ausgezeichnete(s) Kunst und Kunsthandwerk an. In den vielen Restaurants wird Gourment-Kueche mit frischen Meerfischen und -fruechten sowie lokalem Wein serviert. Kaikoura ist ein Ort zum Geniessen, eine Wohltat fuer Seele und Geist, kurz ein Platz, um einige Tage zu entspannen und die Batterien aufzuladen.
